If you are interested in having a website please consider the following points. Alternatively you can call us for a free consultation. We will be happy to explain websites and their mechanics to you.
Start by defining the purpose of the website. Focus on what it is to accomplish and how it will serve its visitors. A clearly defined purpose helps progress the planning process by identifying the audience and the content to be developed.
Set short and long term goals to make the purpose clear and plan for future expansion, modification, and improvement. Ideally, goal-setting practices and measurable objectives should be identified to track the progress of the site and determine its success.
The audience is the group of people who are expected to visit your website – your target market. These people will be viewing the website for a specific reason - so make sure you know exactly what they are looking for. A clearly defined purpose or site goal, combined with an understanding of what visitors want to do or feel when they come to your site, will help to identify who is most likely to need or use your content.
Take account of your audience's information preferences, computer specifications, web experience, and other characteristics that may affect how they can most effectively use your site.
Once you have identified your purpose and your audience, you may evaluate and organize your content. List your content; then prune it ruthlessly for irrelevance to your audience's purpose. Test it out on some kind of "focus group" if you can and compare it to competitors' offerings. Categorize and organize your content.
You should now have an idea of the page and link titles, and their purposes. Now break them into headings, paragraphs and individual sentences. Also identify other items to appear on each page (such as pictures).
What some of our customers have said:
We decided to put our practice on the internet and asked connect wales for advice. They visited the surgery and spoke to the partners about what we wanted from a website. They took our views and built a site that we are very happy with. It is easy to manage and the service we got from connect wales was very professional. I would have no hesitation in recommending them.

Marketing your business on the internet is less expensive than traditional methods of business advertising. Your business can reach a wider audience at a fraction of the cost. The internet allows consumers to research product price and customer services from the comfort of their armchairs. In this way your business has the advantage of reaching customers in a medium that can achieve quick results.
Internet advertising and marketing has the advantage of being easily measured at little or no cost to your business. Google for example have a range of programmes to do this. Here at Connect
How many people listen to your radio advert?
How many people actually read your business advert in the newspapers?
How many people read your door to door leaflet drops?
I bet most of you cannot answer these questions with any accuracy.
Internet advertising is the fastest growing form of marketing because it is easier to measure and track its success. It allows your business to monitor the effects of different advertising streams. I would suggest that the current credit crunch maybe to blame for the collapse of some businesses but the rise of internet shopping and out of town supermarkets have played a role in the demise of high street outlets.
Most people who visit online shopping sites are looking for bargains and deals on regular items they can get on the high street. They choose to do so because online business has fewer overheads so can therefore pass these savings onto customers.
One may say but one cannot feel and sample an online item. That however does not stop the millions who buy online everyday. One may not feel secure about giving credit card details etc over the net. Sure that is a concern for all but companies who handle these payments are constantly reassuring us that all is safe. One also has to use common sense when buying online.
For example do you like the look of a site? Is it shoddy? What type of customer feedback information does it have? All these and more will assist in your buying decision online. Also most payment companies have payment protection added to them so in theory you cannot lose.
This is the beginning of a series of articles I will be posting on the site. If you have a comment to make please let us know. In the coming weeks we will be adding a blog where you the visitor can participate. In the meantime you can follow my blogs at the blog link below.
